Genius – Genus – Genealogies: reception and discourse of Bach's genius

During the lecture series "gender studies and music" of the HfMT, the "original genius" Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach will be highlighted from a musicological, artistic and gender-critical point of view: as a composer, harpsichordist, piano tutor and municipal music director. The lecture explores how he is portrayed today, looking at his works, letters, contemporaneous documents and their receptional history.
The lectures and musical events are organised with the Studio for Old Music of the College for Music and Theatre Hamburg (HfMT).
