In the 18th century, the musical scene of Hamburg was blessed with many performing artists. Our selection presents four of these composers:
Telemann, Keiser, Mattheson and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, who is devoted to particular advertence for his 300th birthday. Three very diverse musical pieces by the second Bach-son will be performed. The triosonata for recorder, viola and basso continuo represents the baroque genre, whereas the closing performance, thanks to the fortepiano, is associated to the classical genre. The theme of the short Folie-variations, well-known as Marin Marais' version, is reviving in the genre of "galante music".
