"...the skill, the kindness, the fire and bravura in his performance... makes him to be the greatest undisputed viol master of our time in Europe" Contemporaries about Ernst Christian Ludwig Hesse at the prussian court. His function at the Berliner Hofkapelle is due to the many exquisite compositions of his colleagues, notably Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Johann Gottlieb Braun.
The legendary Johann Sebastian Bach payed his respect to the prussian king Friedrich II. in Sanssoucis, and dedicated his "Musical Offering" to him.
