Harpichord class of Siebe Henstra

C. P. E. Bach and the clavichord

Selections from the Preussische Sonaten, the Probestucken Sonaten, character pieces and rondos
Utrecht Conservatory (Room H201) ·

It is well known that among all the Clavier-Instrumenten, the clavichord was especially beloved by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Many of his pieces evoke an expressive and sensitive atmosphere which is best produced through the soft tones of this instrument. Next to the sonatas and character pieces that will be performed on the clavichord, the harpsichord can be heard in chamber music of Bach, among which a trio sonata for flute and cembalo obbligato.
